Zexion the Cloaked Schemer (????? Kage Ayumu Sakushi lit Shadow-walking Schemer), is Number 6 in Organization XIII, and the youngest of the original six members. He appeared in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories as a participant in the struggle within the Organization between the newer and veteran members. He is also central to the plot to use Riku as a puppet in Castle Oblivion.

Unlike the other Organization members, Zexion’s weapon was originally unknown, and his talents were used only outside of normal combat. In an effort to keep Zexion’s weapon unknown, his gravestone in the The World That Never Was laid destroyed, as all the gravestones depicted the member’s weapon of choice. It was later revealed that Zexion’s weapon was a lexicon, a dictionary.

Zexion will appear in the upcoming game Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, as one of the playable characters in multiplayer mode. Tetsuya Nomura called Zexion a “mysterious character” for the game. The team is aiming for Zexion to absorb enemy attacks with his book, then use their own attacks against them. This follows a trend where the Organization members bear abilities and skills mirroring those of Final Fantasy jobs (ex. Xaldin = Dragoon/Dragon Knight, Luxord = Gambler/Time Mage, Demyx = Bard/Dancer, Larxene = Ninja, Xigbar = Gunner, etc.). In Zexion’s case, his abilities mirror those of a Blue Mage, whose attacks are those taken from enemies. Vincent Corazza has confirmed he will return as Zexion in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days,

No. 6 in the Organization.

Zexion generally avoids using his own hands when there are deeds to be done. However, with the destruction of Vexen and Lexaeus, he was forced into action.

Zexion confronted Riku disguised as Sora. But Riku no longer feared the dark, and victory was beyond Zexion’s reach.

Formerly Organization XIII’s Number VI. He has been eliminated.

Zexion disliked dirtying his own hands, and relied on his wits to dispose of any rivals–but it was one of his own schemes that wound up destroying him.

Zexion is the Nobody of Ienzo, who was the youngest of Ansem the Wise’s original six apprentices. Ienzo was the apprentice who tried to persuade Ansem to go further with his own research, and helped Xehanort complete the research into the secrets of the heart once Ansem refused to continue experimenting. He, along with Xehanort and Even (the original name of Vexen), is one of only three apprentices to be mentioned by name outside of the listing in the Secret Ansem Reports.

Ienzo and the other apprentices eventually helped Xehanort rebel against Ansem and banished him to the Realm of Nothingness. They went further than Ansem ever dared in researching the Heart and eventually all turned into Heartless. Due to their strong will, their Nobodies kept their memories and general appearance. Ienzo’s Nobody took the name Zexion, an anagram of his original name with an X added.

After Sora had been lured into Castle Oblivion, Zexion discovers two other scents deep in the dungeons of the castle. One of them belongs to a Maleficent formed from someone’s memory, having been given life by Castle Oblivion’s unique properties. Originally, he mistakes the other scent to be that of “The Superior”, an (at the time) unnamed entity within the Organization. (This is possibly due to the presence of Xehanort’s Heartless within him.) Eventually, however, Zexion and his cohorts determine that the scent belongs to Riku, who had appeared in the Castle by force of will after Sora arrived. Vexen hypothesizes that the darkness in Riku’s heart caused Zexion to mistake him for “the Superior” (Xemnas), calling the effect “fascinating”. Specifically, Riku’s heart is plagued by the presence of Ansem. The relationship they share is that “Ansem” and Xemnas both originated from Xehanort; “Ansem” is Xehanort’s Heartless, and Xemnas is his Nobody.

Zero is Jack Skellington’s pet ghost dog. He originally appeared in Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas”.

Yuffie is a character from Final Fantasy VII who makes an appearance in all Kingdom Hearts games. She travels with Leon, whom she refers to by his real name, Squall – this usually causes annoyance on Squall’s part. She sometimes refers to herself as the “Great Ninja Yuffie”, wielding a large wind-blade shuriken as her weapon.

A female ninja who escaped to Traverse Town when her home world was taken by the Heartless. She stays strong and cheerful in any situation. She works with Leon and Aerith to unravel the secret of the “key”.

A girl whose cheerful personality belies her painful memories. When she was still young the Heartless robbed her of her home.

Never one to sweat the small stuff, Yuffie seems unfazed by her fuddled memory.

One member of the town’s Restoration Committee, a spirited girl who actively does her part to keep tabs on the town.

Yuffie met Sora when she was living away from her hometown. Thanks to his help last time, the Heartless were ousted and she got to come home — so she’s very grateful to him.

Sora’s first meeting with Yuffie is in Traverse Town, shortly after he is defeated by Leon and dragged back to the motel. As he is still only semi-conscious, Sora mistakes her for Kairi and refers to her as such, leading Yuffie to remark that Leon “might’ve overdone it.” Yuffie does not play a significant role in the story, but she, along with Leon, was the one who told Sora about the keyblade while inside the Traverse Town hotel.

In the fight cups at Olympus Coliseum, Yuffie is fought numerous times by herself and alongside Leon. She fights primarily by throwing small shuriken and swinging her larger one as a weapon, but she is also able to recover lost health if she is not interrupted.

Yen Sid is a master magician who made his Disney debut in Fantasia. He appears in Kingdom Hearts II as an aid to Sora and the gang. Yen Sid is well-known for his wisdom, and his command over the arts of sorcery is such that most address him with the honorific “Master.” He was once King Mickey’s tutor, and taught him everything he knows of the arts of sorcery. His name is two separated parts of the word ‘Disney’ backwards possibly a tribute to Walt Disney himself. Yen Sid was also one of Walt Disney’s alternate names. [1]

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (1940)

A powerful sorcerer, second to none. He tutored the King in magic.

From conjuring up skies full of beautiful butterflies to parting an ocean, Yen Sid’s feats of wizardry are…well, amazing. His name alone fills some folks with awe.

Yen Sid shared some of his wisdom with Sora and his friends. He also taught them some valuable techniques to help prepare them for what they’ll face on this new quest.

The great sorcerer first appeared in the Fantasia short The Sorcerer’s Apprentice as Mickey Mouse’s master. He was the owner of a magical hat (which he wears in Kingdom Hearts II) that is apparently the source of his power. In the movie’s most acclaimed sequence, Mickey steals the hat and begins to play with its magic. But, as he was warned by Yen, it goes out of control because Mickey cannot control the extent its magic. Yen Sid arrives and manages to stop the magical chaos with his own powers.

Yen Sid serves as Sora’s tutor to what lies ahead of him in his journey. He lives in a large tower in a small world-of-sorts connected to Twilight Town via a Magical Train. He dwells at its top, where he studies the Nobodies and Organization XIII. When Sora, Donald and Goofy arrive, he tells them of the enemies that they will face in the near future (Nobodies, Heartless and the Organization). He also returns to them their Gummi Ship and the co-ordinates to Hollow Bastion.

It is unknown what happens to Yen Sid and the three fairies, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. The last we see of Yen Sid is after the gummi ship is returned to Sora, Donald, and Goofy, and he vanishes. The last seen of the three fairies is when Maleficent’s cloak is brought to the tower and they decide to tell Yen Sid about this. Later on if you visit the tower, it is overtaken by Nobodies (more specificly, Berserkers, Dancers, Dusks, Dragoons, and Gamblers), and neither Yen Sid or the fairies are anywhere to be seen. It is assumed, however, that he escaped to Traverse Town (if it still exists), Disney Castle or Hollow Bastion, though most likely in an unaccessible area in the latter two worlds, while the fairies either returned to the Enchanted Dominion, Aurora’s world, or followed Yen Sid to wherever he escaped.

He will make an appearance in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts prequel Birth by Sleep, which is placed a decade before the first game, as Mickey is seen wielding the Keyblade associated with him, the Star Seeker, and it is known that he was under Yen Sid’s apprenticeship at that time.

Yao is one of three aspiring warriors who joined the Imperial army, the other two being Chien Po and Ling. He is the shortest, both in stature and temper, among the three.

When Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Mulan attempt to join the army, Sora is attempting to get in line when Yao cuts in front of him. When Sora objects, Yao punches him in the face, which leads to a massive brawl between himself, Sora, Donald, Ling, and Chien Po, which Goofy attempts to break up and Mulan succeeds in breaking up. While he disliked Sora and co. at first, he softened his attitude towards them after they saved China from Shan-Yu and the Heartless.

Xion is the fourteenth member of Organization XIII, and is to appear in the upcoming game Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. At the Square-Enix press conference DK?3713, she was revealed in a trailer to have strange connections to both Naminé and Kairi. A recent Famitsu article has stated that she has a “tragic but yet, brave fate.” Xion has been shown in pain being held in Riku’s arms, questioning her existence, indicating that her fate may indeed be tragic. Axel is quoted saying that no matter how often Xion tries to escape, he will always bring her back. This suggests that Xion is not in the Organization on her own will, but is forcibly kept a member of the Organization.

She appears to be good friends with Axel and Roxas, and they are often seen hanging out together in Destiny Islands. She seems to be rather kind, aiding Axel and Roxas in one mission and talking respectfully to Riku at Destiny Islands. She mentions to Riku she has an important friend, and asks about “that girl who was with Sora”, referring to Kairi. Riku tells Xion she “must return to her true self”, but she seems reluctant to do so as she now has friends. Roxas and Axel both confront Xion in Twilight Town, where she raises her Keyblade to fend off Roxas when he approaches her. When Axel meets her in front of the Twilight Town mansion, she orders him not to go easy on her, and Axel reluctantly summons his chakram and attacks.

At the Square-Enix press conference DK?3713, she was revealed in a trailer to wield the Kingdom Key. Although she wields a Keyblade in release trailers, it is unknown if hers is a real Keyblade, as Riku claims Xion’s is a fake, which seems possible as she did not summon her Keyblade back when it was knocked out of her hand. Her Keyblade from the trailer has been revealed to be the Kingdom Key with a keychain, Sora’s original Keyblade. Naminé also makes a reference to her while talking to DiZ, talking about connecting memories. She mentions that if memories begin to “leak” while being connected, and if those memories are connected to other memories, then those “leaked” memories cannot be restored. Naminé then asks if she (Xion) could endure such a thing. There is still no confirmation on her powers or abilities, although she’s revealed to look and sound like Kairi and have black hair and blue eyes. Their physical resemblance is something Xion herself acknowledges, so it is not just coincidence.

Xigbar the Freeshooter (?????, Madan no Ite, lit.Magic Bullet Sharpshooter), is Number 2 in Organization XIII. He is the fourth to last to be defeated and the second to speak to Sora in Kingdom Hearts II, although he does so hooded at first. Xigbar fights with two “Gun Arrows”, capable of firing many different types of shots, the most common of which are laser arrows.

In Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Xigbar will be featured as a playable character in multi player mode. In an interview, Tetsuya Nomura said that “Xigbar’s attacks have a high range, but he has slow reloading time.”

Organization XIII’s Number II. When Sora called out to him, thinking he was Riku, Xigbar gave a curt reply.

His motives and his methods remain unclear. Surely he has a greater goal in mind, but what could it be?

He told Sora once that he reminded him of someone else. Puzzling words, indeed…

Some part of him did seem to be enjoying Sora’s reaction.

Organization XIII’s Number II. Nothing else about him has come to light.

He vanished, leaving Sora with naught but puzzling words. Apparently Organization members can use the darkness to come and go as they please.

Not long after arriving in Hollow Bastion and reuniting with Aerith, Leon and Yuffie, Sora engaged a number of Dusk Nobodies in battle around the city. After being led away from the main town, Sora, Goofy and Donald heard voices mocking them, but could find no source for them. After Sora demands that they show themselves, the remaining Organization members (having lost five members due to deaths and two others due to desertion) materialize, laughing. Though they are hooded, they are recognizable as the Organization from the description given to Sora and his companions by Yen Sid.

The Organization eventually departs, but Xigbar, still cloaked and hooded, stays behind to taunt Sora further, making them feel anxious about the power of the Organization. He also openly compares the similarities between a look Sora gives him and one given to him by Roxas; Sora dismisses this as random banter meant to confuse him. Xigbar then leaves, staying out of Sora’s way for a very long time.

In Sora’s second trip to the Land of Dragons, Sora tracks a black-cloaked figure into the mountains (which is really Riku). They battle, and the mysterious figure flees shortly after; suspecting that he was Riku, Sora follows him. When Sora arrives at the Emperor’s Palace, the site of his earlier battle with Shan Yu, he enters to find a man in a black cloak near the door the Throne Room. Sora calls out Riku’s name, and the man unhoods himself, stepping back from the doorway.

Xemnas is the Nobody of Xehanort, the superior of Organization XIII and the ruler of The World That Never Was. Despite his original name being Xehanort, he uses an anagram of his mentor’s name: Ansem, due to Xehanort stealing the name prior to discarding his heart and body. He uses the element of nothingness, and wields aerial blades. He also commands the Sorcerer Nobodies.

Xemnas will be a playable character in the multiplayer format of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.

His complete being, Xehanort, may also have an appearance in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, due to his possible connection to Aqua, whose armor resides in the Chamber of Rest (see below).

In truth, he is the Nobody of Xehanort, who was apprenticed to Ansem the Wise. In secret, Xehanort studied the doors and the heart of all worlds, ultimately stealing his master’s name, Ansem. When Xehanort became a Heartless, his Nobody Xemnas came into being.

Xemnas is using Sora, collecting the hearts released every time a Heartless falls to his Keyblade.

Xehanort’s Heartless is the main antagonist of Kingdom Hearts, though at that time he called himself Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness, and it wasn’t revealed until Kingdom Hearts II who he really was.

A researcher who studied the Heartless and delved into secrets of the worlds. He organized his findings into a single volume known as Ansem’s report. When he inexplicably vanished, most of its pages were scattered to the winds.

As a researcher and ruler of his world, he studied the Heartless and delved into the many secrets of the worlds. While studying the heart and the darkness within it, he was possessed by darkness and ultimately destroyed his own world. He sacrificed his body to attain great power, and later possessed Riku’s to regain a physical presence. Failure to stop him means the end of all worlds.

Pursuer of darkness.

To open the door to darkness, Ansem used the Heartless to steal countless hearts.

He enslaved Riku, but met his demise at Sora’s hand.

Nonetheless, Ansem’s shadow lives on in the depths of Riku’s heart.

What could his true purpose be?

Xehanort’s Heartless was spawned from the heart of Xehanort, or Ansem as he called himself, when he gave his heart to darkness in the pursuit of knowledge (this also gave birth to the leader of Organization XIII, Xemnas). However, he had been calling himself Ansem, taking his name from Ansem the Wise, his original self’s teacher, for some time, and he continued this practice even as a Heartless. However, unlike others who became Heartless, “Ansem” kept the memories of his human life for reasons not even he knows.

Xehanort was an apprentice of Ansem the Wise and is the main antagonist in the series. The exploits of his Heartless and his Nobody are the basis of conflict in the Kingdom Hearts series. His goals have always been to find Kingdom Hearts and use its’ unlimited power for his own ends. He is responsible for the creation of the heartless, the nobodies, Organization XIII, and the driving force behind the disney villain’s desires and plans. He has made an appearance in every game in the series so far in some shape or form and is expected to be in future titles.

He is the driving force of the entire series, through his Heartless “Ansem” in Kingdom Hearts, his Nobody Xemnas in Kingdom Hearts II and indirectly in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and a possible relation to Master Xehanort in Birth by Sleep.

Even after becoming a Heartless, Xehanort persisted in his research of the doors and the heart of all worlds – all in the name of “Ansem,” of course.

Meanwhile, his Nobody Xemnas had taken leadership of Organization XIII.

Xehanort was found in the paradise world of Radiant Garden by Ansem the Wise, a respected sage and the ruler of the world. Xehanort possessed no memory of his life before this, but it is mentioned that he appeared when a Great Keyblade War ended. Ansem took Xehanort in and he became Ansem’s foremost apprentice. Xehanort was described by Ansem as having abilities so remarkable that they could be considered supernatural.

Eventually, Ansem began to worry about the darkness that lingers within the hearts of others and sought a way to stop it before it consumed his people. Ansem, at the suggestion of Ienzo, constructed a laboratory under his castle where he, Xehanort, and Ansem’s five other assistants would conduct experiments on darkness. Xehanort, who Ansem now fully trusts as an apprentice and friend, offered to use himself in the experiments. Ansem also hoped to unlock Xehanort’s memories in addition to uncovering a way to repress the darkness within hearts. Xehanort had other plans in mind though and decided to conduct his own experiments; to go deeper into the research.

Xehanort and the other five apprentices began to carry out their own experiments. They abducted countless people and locked them within the depths of the laboratory where Xehanort then conducted horrible experiments on the subjects. After using many test subjects, one set of experiments led to the collapse of their hearts. The subjects then went into unrecoverable conditions and were locked up in the dungeon of the castle. Eventually, Xehanort checked on the subjects and saw that they transformed into creatures of darkness, which he named “The Heartless” as they lacked hearts. At this point, Xehanort had taken Ansem’s name as his own and wrote his own report under this stolen name.

Xehanort then presented the heartless with living and non-living samples to which the heartless only responded to the living. Xehanort witnessed the heartless consume the living creatures and then multiply into more heartless. Xehanort deduced that the heartless seek the hearts of other things, which explains why they only react to living samples, in order to create more of their kind. After observing their behavior and their responses to living things, Xehanort took one of the heartless aside and observed its’ behavior.

The heartless began to move throughout the castle until a door appeared which Xehanort was somehow able to open. Behind the door was a humongous mass of energy to which the heartless reacted immensely to. The opening of this door led to the collapse of the world’s boundaries, which was seen in the form of a meteor shower. Xehanort eventually deduced that the door actually led to the heart of that world and that the opening of this door led to the collapse of the walls between worlds. This allowed inter-dimensional travel as all the walls between worlds were now broken and eventually a visitor showed up named King Mickey. He had constructed a gummi ship out of materials from the meteors and used it to visit many different places in search of answers of recent events. Xehanort and Mickey met and had huge discussions in which Xehanort learned of the Keyblade, a mysterious weapon that Mickey himself possessed.
